Kinzua Dam

The ANF Kinzua Dam Rimrock and Jakes Rocks Allegheny Resevior The Seasons in the Forest Main
East of Warren on Route 59, this important flood control dam has created a vast waterway known as the Allegheny Reservoir. Completed in 1965 by the US Army Corps of Engineers, the 25-Mile elongated lake fills nearly 100 miles of forested shoreline. Recreational opportunities at Kinzua are legendary: picture a sparkling lake surrounded by forest and you have the perfect setting for your next vacation.

Pleasure craft of all sizes appear on the waterway in the spring, summer, and fall. A marina located just three miles from the dam gives easy access to the waterways. There are several other boat launches placed strategically around the lake by the US Forest Service.

Day-to-Day operations of the flood control dam take place on the site. Visitors are welcome to walk out onto a portion of the dam to take photographs and view the sights. Groups, with advance reservations , may tour the structure depending on the availability of project personnel.
